Sustainable Denim: Itema brings its iSAVER® to the Denim Premiere Vision

Itema, worldwide leading manufacturer of advanced weaving solutions, exhibits at Denim Première Vision (Milan, Superstudio Più, 13 and 14 October 2021, booth F6) the mechatronic device iSAVER® that, unique in the sector, allows to denim weavers to save up tp 1.000 Kg of cotton per loom per year thus avoiding to waste circa 20 million of liters of water. An innovation 100% made-in-Italy, iSAVER® is already present in the biggest denim weaving mills in China, Vietnam, Turkey, Egypt, Italy and South America.

Denim is one of the most popular fabrics in the world, with 3.5 billion garments produced every year. The denim manufacturing process, which absorbs about 35% of world cotton production and moves a global market that reached 21.8 billion dollars in 2020, has a strong environmental impact. In fact, it is estimated that 3,800 liters of water and 18.3 kWh of electricity are needed to make a single pair of jeans, generating emissions of 33.4 kg of CO2 during the entire life cycle of the product1.

iSAVER® eliminates the waste selvedge on the fabric left-hand side by inserting the weft without the need of additional yarns, thus significantly reducing raw materials and water wastage. The device has been designed and developed by Itemalab®, the Itema Group company dedicated to product and process innovation for the whole industrial sector. Located inside the Kilometro Rosso Innovation District in Bergamo, the company employs around 70 engineers and specialists.

Itema reaffirms its commitment to the Syrian textile industry at NasTex 2026

From July 18th to 21st, Itema will exhibit at NasTex at the Damascus Fairground (Hall 11 – Stand C02), marking its return to one of the Middle East’s historically significant textile markets. Itema will showcase advanced weaving technology designed to support the competitiveness and technological evolution of Syrian manufacturers and announces a new partnership with Growfast Agency as the sole agent of Itema in Syria.

Itema to showcase weaving excellence at ITM 2026

From June 9 to 13, Itema will exhibit at ITM 2026 in Istanbul (Hall 8 – Stand 806D), unveiling a distinctive exhibition concept designed to highlight the Company’s expertise across the entire weaving value chain. For this year’s edition, Itema will introduce an innovative stand experience built around two core areas: advanced weaving and spare parts solutions and an immersive textile gallery featuring fabrics produced by Itema Customers worldwide.

Itema America acquires Palmetto Loom Reed, strengthening local manufacturing and service in the U.S.

Itema America, the U.S. subsidiary of Italy-based Itema Group, has acquired – through an Assets Purchase Agreement – Palmetto Loom Reed, a Greenville, South Carolina-based manufacturer of weaving reeds and one of the last remaining domestic producers of these precision components in the United States.

Mahlo introduces AI-supported Orthopac RVMC-20 plus at ITMA Asia 2026

From November 20 to 24, 2026, Mahlo GmbH + Co. KG will present its system portfolio for the textile industry at ITMA Asia in Shanghai. Together with its local sales and service partner Kuantex and Mahlo China, the Bavarian technology specialist will demonstrate at Booth C22 in Hall 7.1 how intelligent measurement and control technology can improve the quality and efficiency of textile production processes. The spotlight will be on the new Orthopac RVMC-20 plus, which combines precise weft straightening with fully integrated process control.

STFI showcases new Textile LAB Professional with focus on climate protection and sustainable technologies

The Sächsisches Textilforschungsinstitut e. V. (STFI) in Chemnitz is organising a themed day on 3 December 2026, focusing on climate protection and the environment. As well as showcasing current applications for green cities and natural fibres for lightweight construction, the event will feature machine demonstrations in the new Textile LAB Professional. Under the motto ‘Design meets Technology’, this networking event will also provide an insight into artistic student projects, thereby facilitating a professional exchange on creative perspectives and modern technologies for climate protection and the environment.
