Itema manufactures the first Projectile Weaving Machines “Made in Italy” at its Colzate Headquarters.
The historic expertise developed in Zuchwil since 1953 enters a new production phase in Italy
This achievement marks a key step in the transfer of manufacturing expertise and production activities from the historic Zuchwil facility in Switzerland, where projectile weaving machines have been continuously manufactured since 1953.
The first model, the TW11, marked the beginning of a technology that would become a benchmark for industrial and technical weaving applications worldwide. Today, the current P7300HP V8 continues this legacy of reliability, precision, and high performance appreciated by the most demanding weavers across the globe.
The transfer of production to Colzate required extensive coordination, industrialization activities, and know-how involving multiple teams across the Group. The project covered both the expertise related to the assembly of projectile weaving machines and the manufacturing capabilities for original spare parts for current and previous machine models, ensuring full continuity for customers worldwide.
A major contribution came from Itema Operations team who successfully coordinated the activities required to launch production in Italy.
“This achievement represents much more than a production transfer: it ensures the continuity of a technological and industrial heritage built over more than seventy years,” said Ugo Ghilardi, Itema Group CEO. “Bringing projectile weaving machine and its original spare parts production to Colzate means strengthening competencies, people, and manufacturing capabilities while looking toward the future.”
With this milestone, Itema further confirms its commitment to advancing weaving technologies and preserving its global industrial know-how heritage.
