Van de Wiele carpet & velvet weaving machines in the Far East
Van de Wiele, the carpet and velvet weaving specialist, was successful in promoting the Carpet & Rug Pioneer CRP92 & 93 in 5 meters pile width. Compared to the normal 4 meter machines, the CRP in 5 meters weaves area rugs in optimized width combinations i.e. 2 and 3 meter wide rugs next to each other avoiding narrow runners, difficult to sell.
This advantage of the CRP in 5 meter pile width has been confirmed by numerous orders in the Far East (Uzbekistan, China), the Middle East (Turkey, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Iran) and Europe (Belgium, UK, Ireland).

Woven on the Handlook Carpet Pioneer HCPX2 (Fig. 2), Van de Wiele was presenting a new range of handlook qualities in reed 300, 500 and 700 d/m in 8 colours.
The patented 3 rapiers weaving technique, inserting 3 fillings at the same time, weaves the 3 shot weave structure with 50% higher output as on a double rapier machine.
No ground warps are showing through the back. This results in the hand-knotted backside look and a perfect pile fixation, with only outside pile picks. Van de Wiele has numerous references in China, Iran, Turkey, Belgium,…

Both in wall-to-wall carpet as in area rugs, the new Axminster weaving machine MAX91 is installed by numerous carpet weavers in China, Indonesia and Malaysia. The kinematic chain of the gripper movement facilitates the quality changes. The servo motor driven cutting motion gives a more equal pile surface, saving a considerable amount of raw material, as less shearing is required.
Various innovative new models are added to the Pioneer range. The Universal Cut & Loop Pioneer UCP93 weaves face to face cut & loop pile rugs. The Universal Shaggy Loop Pioneer USP93 weaves cut & loop Shaggy carpets up to 2x50 mm cut pile, combined with loops of 15 to 20 mm. The reply to the market-demand for Shaggies with higher pile is the SRP92 Super Shaggy & Rug Pioneer, with cut pile up to 2x70 mm. The combination of various yarn qualities with various surface densities give exceptional Shaggy looks with waving relief effects. Artificial woven grass becomes also more popular.
The Pioneer range is complete with weaving machines for Loop pile carpets (CLP91), Sisal look carpets (SLP93) and the Tapestry Rug Pioneer (TRP92) with jacquard pile and jacquard ground warp.
In upholstery fabrics, there is a notable trend towards Italian velvet woven on the Velvet Tronic VTR33 (Fig. 3) with pile and backing warp on jacquard. The combination of pile jacquard with flat jacquard is fashionable. VTR33 Italian Velvet weaving machines have been installed recently in the Far East i.e. Indonesia, China, India and Japan.
