Simple validation of OEKO-TEX® certificates with newly developed API

The partnership with the Cloud-based business platform ecVision® is an example of the successful practical implementation of the new API for the validation of OEKO-TEX® certificates. (c) 2014 Oekotex
Due to the complex business relationships with their global suppliers, companies in the textile chain depend on accurate and reliable information, specifically as it applies to existing certifications and their validity.

To best support interested companies in their pursuit of procurement, product development or compliance with statutory requirements, OEKO-TEX® has developed an API (Application Programming Interface) which enables the validation of OEKO-TEX® certificate data to be integrated in online portals, Cloud applications or databases / software used within a company. Textile-specific service providers are now able to offer their users additional information when they are searching for companies and products. Companies can implement the validation of OEKO-TEX® certificates directly in their internal ERP systems (e.g. SAP) or databases for Compliance Management.

According to David Pircher, OEKO-TEX® Business Development Manager, "Our new interface will bring unique benefits to brands and retailers who need to monitor and manage a large number of certificates."

In addition to the search for individual certificates, a specific function is also available for bundled queries which could, for example, include several hundred OEKO-TEX® certifications for retailers with a wide range of products. The new API conveys data such as the validity, issue and expiry dates of OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certificates as well as the product class of the certified articles to be checked.

In addition, the article group description on the certificate, which gives information about the type and scope of the certified product, can also be displayed. In the case of certification of production sites in accordance with STeP by OEKO-TEX®, the OEKO-TEX® interface also conveys the validity and issue/expiry dates of the current STeP certificate to be checked. In addition, the API displays the scoring result for the sustainability assessment for a company if the querying user has received the necessary secure code from the STeP certified company.

Using the data made available via the OEKO-TEX® API, automatic notifications can be set up, for example, to send an alert prior to an OEKO-TEX® certificate expiring. Information provided by suppliers can be validated against the up-to-date global OEKO-TEX® certificate database with a greatly reduced level of communication so participating companies can grow their partnership in a more transparent and efficient way.

More information on the new API for the validation of OEKO-TEX® certificates is available from the OEKO-TEX® Secretariat, Mr David Pircher, email: info@oeko-tex.com.
