Mahlo quality at China Composites Expo 2019

The China Composites Expo is one of the best-known exhibitions for fibre composites on the trade fair calendar. For three days, innovative materials and systems were the focus of interest for experts from all niche segments of the industry at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. Mahlo GmbH + Co KG presented solutions for improved production processes by means of quality measurement.

With Qualiscan QMS, Mahlo's China representative Frank Fei had a tool in his luggage that helps every manufacturer of composites to sustainably improve their product. The traversing quality control system records and controls important parameters such as basis weight, density, thickness or coating weight on the running web. For example, fluctuations in the composition of the various materials can be detected and any faults quickly rectified. This not only improves product quality, but also protects the environment by reducing raw material consumption.

Mahlo also has a specialist in its portfolio for the challenges of composites production. The Gravimat DFI beta sensor measures the weight per unit area and is not disturbed by uneven webs - often a problem with composite materials. It produces precise measurement results regardless of changes in dryness, density or thickness.

"The demand for composite materials has risen sharply in China in recent years," says Fei. "Almost all industrial sectors, from the automotive industry to construction and renewable energies, use fiber-reinforced composites. We look forward to using our systems to help these industries achieve high-quality and efficient production. “
