Top-class plenary lectures on opening day of Dornbirn MFC

DORNBIRN-MFC - The Europe-centred innovation platform for the fiber industry and the downstream manufacturing stages is to serve as a generator of ideas and the basis for networking.(c) 2017 DORNBIRN-MFC
Professor Radermacher, of Ulm University (DE), Head of the Forschungsinstitut für anwendungsorientierte Wissensverarbeitung (Research Institute for Application-oriented Knowledge Processing), Member of the Club of Rome, will address the subject of “Globalisation, Sustainability, Future – is there still hope for us?“

Mr. Buisson, Veolia Water Technologies (US), will report on prospects for “Innovative Fibres and Textiles in the Field of Water Management“, and Dr. Meierkord , the President of the European Man-Made Fibres Association CIRFS (BE), will present a paper on the “Contribution of Man-made Fibres to the Balanced Use of Global Resources“.

On the most timely subject of “Marine Litter – a problem turned into an innovative opportunity“. The panel will be headed by W. Woitsch, a partner of SYNGROUP Consulting (AT). Other panel members will be Prof. FJ Radermacher / Ulm University (DE), P. Meister / Adidas (DE), W. Rauch / IVC (DE), R. van de Kerkhof / Lenzing AG (AT), Donal Breen / Indorama/Wellman (TH) and HM Schally /EU (BE).

The second day will be concluded with a discussion on “The endless saga of ultra-light & ingenious high performance features: What’s next?” Moderated by Dr. I. Hofmann / IHOFMANN (DE), the panel will include E. Orndoff / NASA (US), M. Stanhope / Tencate (US), O. Spöcker / Lenzing AG (AT), P. Berardi / Nilit (IT), Helmut Zepf / PBI Performance Products Inc. (US) and a representative of DSM Dyneema (NL).


Panel discussion in the field of sports and leisure wear

A panel on “Sustainability & Performance – a contradiction in this industry?” has been planned for Thursday noon, just before the lunch break; discussants are R. Bethmann / VAUDE (DE), Kate Riley / Adidas (DE), R. Vitarana / MAS Holding (Sri Lanka), Y. Dandapure /Lululemon (CA) and other Brands, who will be headed by Giuseppe Gherzi / Gherzi Consulting(CH).

Yarn Expo Shenzhen 2026 served as a strategically positioned mid-year sourcing platform for the Greater Bay Area, highlighting Shenzhen’s role in connecting regional demand, supply and innovation exchange across the textile value chain. Bangladesh: Italian textile machinery mission stops in Dhaka and Chittagong

Technological upgrading and the transition toward higher value-added production are driving the new Italian industrial mission to Bangladesh. This year, the mission will split between the country’s two main manufacturing hubs, where Italian manufacturers will meet the leaders of the local textile supply chain in two strategic stages: July 7th in Dhaka and July 9th in Chittagong.
