Successful trade fair appearance of the IVGT members

The IVGT joint stand in Hall 12.1 was a real industry magnet! Photo: IVGT
With a total of 38,000 visitors from 102 countries and 1,700 exhibitors, the 20th Techtextil 2024 from 23 to 26 April in Frankfurt am Main once again maintained its position as the world's largest trade fair for technical textiles and nonwovens. The Industry Association for Finishing – Yarns – Fabrics – Technical Textiles also draws a positive conclusion about the course of the trade fair for its members.

Daily full-house at the IVGT joint stand, high-ranking guests from politics and business, numerous and promising discussions, including on new projects, as well as more than 200 national and international students, who informed themselves about the current ADDTEX project, among other things, made the joint stand of the IVGT members the industry meeting place in Hall 12.1. A great success, which the exhibiting members also appreciated in their video messages and social media posts, and so the feedback to the IVGT for the joint trade fair appearance was very positive all along the line.

An equally resounding success was the ETT Club Networking Night on the first trade fair evening at the IVGT joint stand, to which the IVGT had invited together with the other member associations Clubtex (France), Fedustria (Belgium) and Sistema Moda Italia / TexClubTec (Italy). More than 200 guests had registered, and others joined spontaneously from other stand parties. "This was EU-wide industry networking par excellence in action," says Stefan Schmidt from IVGT, who was instrumental in organizing the party, and IVGT Managing Director Michael Pöhlig emphasizes: "We are very pleased with the enormous response we were able to experience. All guests were more than satisfied."

The hotspot tours organised by the ETT Club in Halls 12.1 and 11.1 as well as the tours in other exhibition halls of the SmartX initiative, the start-up tour of the Texstarted initiative of the textil+mode association and the tour of the AddTex partner AEI from Spain were also well attended. Thanks to its broad industry network, the IVGT has succeeded in involving all its interested members in the theme tours.

High-ranking guests and numerous students at the IVGT

A delegation from the Indian Ministry of Textiles visited the membership stand as well as the Federal Ministry of Economics (BMWK) Department IVC1 and other high-ranking guests. All were warmly welcomed at the booth and introduced to a number of members. The European umbrella organisation EURATEX also held numerous individual discussions at the IVGT joint stand.

Since 2013, the IVGT Department of Technical Textiles has been inviting all students from the universities of applied sciences and universities as well as the universities of Dresden and Aachen to an information lunch. "This is lived promotion of young talent and active IVGT advertising to attract skilled workers for our members," emphasizes Stefan Schmidt. On the four days of the fair, more than 200 students accepted the invitation and learned about the current Erasmus+ project Addtex as well as about the member companies and their products in guided tours of the fair. The students learned interesting facts about innovative yarn products, wovens, braids and knitted items, nonwovens and finished products.

At the Techtextil Forum, however, the IVGT was represented with two presentations. On Wednesday on the topic of "Made-in-Germany: Recyclable Technical Textiles" and on Friday on "AddTex: A holistic approach fostering the digital and green transition of EU Textiles".

Service offers added value

"We at the IVGT offer our members real added value with our services," Michael Pöhlig concludes. "Our services on CO2 calculation, energy issues, environmental law and product safety as well as sustainability reporting are currently in high demand. Together with Treutex GmbH, the IVGT presented the new brochure "Your competence partners for the textile industry in the areas: Environment - Energy - Product Safety" But we can also help companies with many other topics thanks to our knowledge of the processes in the textile industry and especially the finishing industry. This is what distinguishes us, which our members appreciate about the IVGT". True to the motto "after the trade fair is before the trade fair", the Technical Textiles Department of the IVGT will once again invite you to participate in the IVGT joint stand in April 2026 on the occasion of the general meeting in November. New members are always welcome!

In addition, the new brochure "Suppliers Guide - Technical Textiles Germany" has been published at Techtextil. In addition, there is a revised online version. The directory is a supplier directory for processors and users of technical textiles and covers all 12 application areas that comprise the overall market for technical textiles. The process overview lists 70 manufacturing processes of the more than 130 producers and service providers.
