IVGT with the ETT Club at HANNOVER MESSE 2025

Technical textiles are highly developed materials that have been specially optimised for industrial applications. They are indispensable in many areas, even though they are often invisible. As "hidden champions" in the manufacture of numerous innovative products, technical textiles are a real alternative to conventional materials! HANNOVER MESSE, which will take place from 31 March to 4 April 2025, will bring together these important aspects for the first time and present the joint stand "Technical Textiles" in the innovative Future Hub in Hall 2.

Technical textiles take centre stage

Stefan Schmidt from IVGT comments: "This is a great opportunity for our sector to present itself to the entire international industrial world. Our aim is to convince trade visitors of the capabilities of technical textiles".

The members of the four industry associations IVGT (Germany), Clubtex (France), Fedustria (Belgium) and TexClubTec (Italy) are leaders in the manufacture of technical textiles, which are essential for lightweight construction, electromobility, aerospace, medicine, smart wearables, environmental technology and filtration. Hannover Messe is the undisputed global industry meeting place for decision-makers and visionaries of innovative products. Together, the four industry associations, better known to many as the ETT Club, and HANNOVER MESSE are now organising a joint stand at HANNOVER MESSE 2025 for the first time. Eco-design as the foundation of circular textiles

Based on the results of an extensive European analysis, the Erasmus+ project Skills4Circularity is currently developing three practice-based training modules covering recycling technologies, eco-design for the circular economy and sustainable manufacturing. This was preceded by a comprehensive company survey and a joint analysis conducted by the project partners under the leadership of IVGT. The results show that the greatest challenges lie not so much in a lack of technology as in skills gaps.

New skills for a circular textile economy

Based on the results of a comprehensive analysis, the Erasmus+ project Skills4Circularity is developing three practical training modules covering recycling technologies, eco-design for the circular economy and sustainable manufacturing. The content of the first module, Recycling Technologies, has now been developed and validated together with industry representatives. The module provides participants with knowledge of regulatory requirements, material sorting and the preparation of textile waste for recycling.

The textile industry in transition

Recycling, traceability, eco-design and digitalisation are among the key future challenges facing the European textile industry. The Erasmus+ project Skills4Circularity, involving 21 partners from twelve countries, is investigating the skills required to address these challenges. As the German industry partner, the Industry Association for Finishing – Yarns – Fabrics – Technical Textiles (IVGT) is bringing the industry’s perspective to the project.
