Oerlikon Barmag celebrates topping-out ceremony for the new pump production building

Only a few weeks after the ground-breaking ceremony at the end of February, Oerlikon Barmag is already celebrating the topping-out ceremony for the new pumpconstruction production building at the Remscheid Lennep site today, despite the fact that the corona crisis has since set in and the framework conditions for the construction of the shell of the approximately 4,000 m² hall have become more difficult.

However, together with the Remscheid building authority, the construction company Dohrmann and all other construction companies involved, Oerlikon Barmag to reach the next milestone for the expansion of the pump construction sector on time here as well.

Starting in December 2020, the high-tech spinning, feed and metering pumps will then be manufac-tured and tested in the new hall. For this purpose, around 80 employees from the incoming goods, logistics and prefabrication departments will move into the new building with 40 machine tools. With this investment in the future, Oerlikon Barmag is setting new standards in the areas of profitability, process stability and logistics in pump construction.

Georg Stausberg, CEO of the Oerlikon Manmade Fibers segment, added: "Our innovative strength has always been the reason for our leading market position in manmade fiber plant construction. Oerlikon Barmag will be celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2022. Pump Construction – practically the core of the former Barmag AG – was involved from the very start and has been all about superlative innovative strength and state-of-the-art manufacturing methods in conjunction with a stringent quality philosophy ever since. Oerlikon Barmag manufactures precision gear metering pumps for textile and non-textile applications. The smallest pumps weigh 400 grams, precisely conveying 0.015 cm3/rev, while the largest come in at four tons and are capable of conveying 12.8 liters of liquids per revolution. Textile spinning pumps provide highly-accurate metering of the melt in manmade fiber systems for manufacturing continuous filaments. Non-textile pumps are predominantly deployed in the manufacture of films, in the metering of paints, in the mixing of chemical liquids, in the application of hot-melt adhesives as well as in the processing of silicones, resins and polyurethanes. All manufacturing processes are carried out at the Remscheid site: turning, drilling, milling, grinding, lapping and toothing.

Barmag presents metering pump solutions at ASE China

From September 15 to 17, 2026, Barmag’s Pumps Division will present its solutions for the precise delivery and metering of adhesives, sealants, and other high-viscosity media at ASE China at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. The focus of the exhibition will be on high-precision gear metering pumps that help plant managers sustainably optimize material usage, process stability, and product quality. (Booth E4235).

Oerlikon Manmade Fibers Solutions hosted successful Technology Day 2025 in India

Oerlikon Manmade Fibers Solutions recently hosted its highly anticipated Innovation and Technology Day at the Deltin Hotel in Daman by end of January 2025. Trützschler’s latest spinning and card clothing innovations at CAITME 2026

From September 8 to 10, 2026, Trützschler will present its latest innovations in spinning and card clothing for state-of-the-art fiber processing at CAITME in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. Visitors are invited to meet the experts at Pavilion 2, Booth D50 and explore solutions designed to increase productivity, streamline processes, and ensure consistently high yarn quality. BICO BCF yarn delivers impressive performance in field testing

In a joint development project with other partners, Barmag and Object Carpet have successfully tested BICO BCF yarn in the carpet manufacturing process. The results show that this innovative yarn technology offers significant performance advantages and opens up new possibilities for recycling-oriented carpet constructions.

Cotton Brazil Dialogues 2026 concludes with 50 international participants immersed in Brazilian cotton production

The Cotton Brazil Dialogues concludes its 2026 edition after a series of technical visits to farms, cotton gins and reference centers, as well as workshops focused on Brazilian cotton production. A total of 50 participants from 14 countries took part in the field trips. The initiative is led by the Brazilian Association of Cotton Growers (Abrapa) and the National Association of Cotton Exporters (Anea), with support from the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil).
