EURATEX position paper on apparel & footwear product environmental footprint category rules (PEFCR)

EURATEX agrees with the need for a harmonized method to evaluate the environmental impact of products and welcomes the European Commission’s vision to develop the Product Environmental Footprint (PEF) methodology.

EURATEX has identified several elements necessary to implement its full potential, as well as to break down the complexity of the term sustainability into individual, understandable and well-defined building blocks. However, for the textile industry to recognize and support such a method, EURATEX calls for some improvements.

BASF today (March 26, 2026) celebrated the official inauguration of its newly built, world-scale Verbund site in Zhanjiang, Guangdong Province in southern China.
