Carbon Revolution wins Composites Australia Engineering Team Excellence Award

Carbon Revolution has won the Engineering Team Excellence Award at the 2026 Composites Australia Annual Industry Awards.

Ashley Denmead, Steve Agius, Tim Corbett and Tim de Souza accepted the Award on behalf of Carbon Revolution’s wider engineering team. The award recognises the engineering expertise behind Carbon Revolution’s world-leading automated production process for carbon fibre automotive wheels, and the efforts to get the company’s lightweight wheels validated against rigorous OEM standards.

Conference delegates shown through factory and Mega-line

As part of the 2026 Composites Australia Conference, Carbon Revolution showed delegates through its Waurn Ponds facility, providing a firsthand look at recent innovations to further automate its manufacturing process. Delegates were shown through the Mega-line and provided with a detailed overview of Carbon Revolution’s R&D testing equipment, as well as the in-process measurements and inspections which ensure our lightweight composite wheels can be made to OEM standards.

Fewer pores, greater impact tolerance: Peter Dornier Foundation Prize 2026 honours material research on fibre-reinforced composite components for aerospace industry

The winners of the 2026 Peter Dornier Foundation Prize, together with Maja Dornier (centre), Chair of the Foundation’s Board, and the trustees of the Peter Dornier Foundation, following the awards ceremony. Microscopically small pores that form during manufacture, or barely visible impact damage, can severely impair the load-bearing capacity and service life of fibre-reinforced composite components. Two young researchers have presented groundbreaking work in this field and will both be awarded the 2026 Peter Dornier Foundation Prize: Dr.-Ing. Benedikt Neitzel from the Technical University of Ilmenau for his doctoral thesis on pore minimisation in the RTM process, and Johanna Buschmann, M.Sc., for her master’s thesis, completed at the German Aerospace Centre, on the improved impact tolerance of 3D fabrics compared to 2D laminates.
