NILIT raises the sustainability bar with durable SENSIL® Toughtex

NILIT introduces SENSIL® Toughtex, the innovative premium Nylon 6.6 yarn for protective apparel that is substantially more resilient and abrasion resistant than conventional nylon with less environmental impact, too. SENSIL® Toughtex is manufactured according to NILIT’s Total Product Sustainability Program and can be enhanced with other SENSIL® technologies such as WaterCare color-embedded Nylon 6.6 for water savings, EcoCare recycled Nylon 6.6, and ByNature for lower CO2 emissions.

“Consumers in occupations or activities that require serious protective clothing want all the technical features plus they want to make smarter choices for the planet,” says Michelle Lea, NILIT’s VP Global Marketing. “They will not compromise on comfort, function, or environmental footprint.”

SENSIL® Toughtex yarn is specially engineered for lightweight, flexible durability for long lasting apparel that is significantly easier to wear. With fabric weights as low as 100 g/m2, performance apparel made with SENSIL® Toughtex yarn provides outstanding defense in addition to being more comfortable and durable. From long-lasting workwear to protective apparel for biking, skateboarding, skiing, or other abrasion prone activities, these tenacious yarns have been proven to provide more tear strength and abrasion resistance than conventional nylon yarns. The yarn’s unparalleled durability and comfort benefits are also appropriate in other categories such as denim, socks, shoes, bags, activewear, outerwear, and gear.

Apparel products that meet the qualification standards for the SENSIL® Certification Program have access to hangtags and consumer education materials to promote their commitment to both performance and sustainability.

SENSIL® Toughtex is just one of NILIT’s innovations that comprise the industry’s largest portfolio of sustainable premium Nylon 6.6 products for textiles and apparel. In addition to manufacturing process and product innovations, NILIT is committed to promoting sustainability throughout the global supply chain.
