Teijin Introduces LCA for Carbon Fiber Intermediate Materials

Teijin Limited announced today that it has adopted lifecycle assessment (LCA) to calculate the environmental footprint of its carbon fiber intermediate materials. By calculating the environmental impacts of its production processes, Teijin expects to devise ways to reduce emissions in each production process as well as to expedite collaboration with partner companies throughout its supply chain, from manufacturing to disposal, and to implement LCA initiatives for the entire lifecycles of Teijin carbon fiber products.

Teijin completed the LCA of its carbon fiber filament manufacturing processes in December 2021, based on which the company has calculated the LCA for its carbon fiber filament applications. This covers carbon fiber textiles, prepregs (pre-impregnated with matrix resin) and short fibers for composites used in diverse applications, such as sporting goods, industrial products, aircraft, automobiles and other applications requiring excellent combinations of low weight and high strength.

Teijin’s LCA studies, which have been certified by an independent third-party organization, in accordance with the ISO14040 and ISO14044 standards, will provide customers with reliable emissions data regarding Teijin’s carbon fiber intermediate materials and thereby help these companies to evaluate their own environmental footprints better.

Looking ahead, Teijin expects to expand the scope of its LCA activities to other carbon fiber products, in cooperation with customers, including the makers of final products.

Teijin announces availability of DPP-compliant products aligned with Europe’s ESPR Environmental Regulation

Teijin Limited announced today that it has started rolling out initiatives to enable aramid fibers and carbon fibers to be accompanied by Digital Product Passport (DPP) technology, which enhances supply chain transparency by verifying the origins of materials and supporting sustainability claims. The company is using the supply chain traceability system from Netherlands-based Circularise B.V., in which Teijin has invested since November 2024, to develop DPPs for each product.

Teijin to invest in Circularise B.V. and adopt its supply chain traceability platform to promote the Circular Economy

Teijin Limited announced today that it will invest in Circularise B.V., a company based in The Hague, Netherlands, which develops product traceability management systems using blockchain technology. Teijin will also implement Circularise’s software to improve visibility into its global supply chain. Circularise’s proprietary “Smart Questioning”(*) solution, which utilizes Zero-Knowledge Proof (ZKP) technology, provides both anonymity and transparency to ensure a highly reliable product traceability system.

Lenzing and Kaihara to debut REMOD denim collection at Kingpins Amsterdam

The Lenzing Group, a global producer of wood-based fibers for the textile and nonwovens industries, has partnered with Japanese denim manufacturer Kaihara Corporation to launch the “REMOD Collection”. The collection combines three of Lenzing's fiber offerings for denim applications: TENCEL™ Lyocell Standard, TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 and TENCEL™ Lyocell dtex 2.2.

Circ and Huafon partner to scale textile-to-textile recycling in China

Circ® and Huafon, a leading spandex producer in China, are partnering to build and scale a new multi-phase textile-to-textile recycling site in China, expanding Circ's global pathway to industrial scale. The project will be located within Huafon's industrial footprint and will use Circ's technology to process polycotton textile waste and recycle both inputs, recovering recycled PTA, recycled MEG and recycled cellulosic pulp for use in new textiles. The site will be developed in phases, with Phase 1 designed for approximately 200 metric tons of textile waste per day and additional capacity planned.

Mayer & Cie. Global will focus on mattress fabric production at ITMA Asia, taking place in Shanghai from 20 to 24 November 2026.
