Dürkopp Adler and SGG Group announce strategic acquisition of Sonotronic Nagel GmbH

© 2023 Dürkopp Adler Group
Dürkopp Adler Group has announced the acquisition of Sonotronic Nagel GmbH, a leading company in automated ultrasonic welding technology. The purchase agreement was signed on April 28th, 2023, with the transfer of the company set to take place on July 1st, 2023.

The acquisition of Sonotronic Nagel will expand Dürkopp Adler Group's portfolio in industrial sewing and welding technology by automation solutions in plastic welding technology and strengthen its presence in the global market.

Wolf-Markus Frank, Managing Director of Dürkopp Adler GmbH, approves of this with the takeover: "Sonotronic Nagel is an innovative company and fits ideally to us. The companies complement each other, especially in terms of technology, products, and global market access. We are confident that our group of companies has a successful future ahead and we look forward to further growing together."

Dr. Frank Meyer, Managing Director of PFAFF Industriesysteme und Maschinen GmbH, a subsidiary of the Dürkopp Adler Group, also sees significant synergies in the acquisition: "We are looking forward to working closely with our colleagues from Sonotronic. As a premium manufacturer of welding technology and automated processing of composite materials and all types of technical textiles, Sonotronic's expertise complements our know-how at PFAFF Industrial and KSL optimally."

Likewise, Ingo Nagel, Managing Director of Sonotronic Nagel GmbH, commented positively on the takeover: "We are very pleased that we have found a buyer in the Dürkopp Adler Group who will maintain our location in Karlsbad and secure almost all jobs. We are convinced that the Dürkopp Adler Group will support us in expanding our business and strengthening our position as a market leader in ultrasonic welding technology."

In November 2022, Sonotronic Nagel GmbH filed for insolvency. Tobias Wahl from the law firm Anchor Rechtsanwälte has since continued to run the business and, together with his team, has taken reorganization measures.

Sonotronic Nagel GmbH will now be part of the internationally operating SGG Group under the umbrella of Dürkopp Adler Group. The SGG Group is mainly focused on the development, production, and distribution of connection technologies with a focus on sewing technology, as well as solutions in the logistics sector. In Germany, the sewing machine manufacturers Dürkopp Adler and its subsidiary PFAFF Industrial are part of the group.
