Itema Group exhibits at Techtextil and announces the new Itema Technical Textiles Division – Itematech

Itema, the leading Italian manufacturer of best-in-class weaving machines, spare parts and integrated services, will exhibit at Techtextil in Frankfurt (Hall 3.0, D05) and announces an important contribution for the sector. In fact, Itema will seize the opportunity of the worldwide technical textiles flagship event to launch Itematech, the new company exclusively dedicated to producing weaving machines for the benefit of technical fabrics weavers.

With the aim of setting a new technological benchmark in technical textiles weaving by providing the market with the most comprehensive product offering to manufacture this highly specialized fabrics, Itema recently signed an agreement for the business lease of PTMT (formerly Panter), thus giving rise to Itematech.

Thanks to the strong know-how resulting from the merger of Itema and PTMT (formerly Panter) expertise and competences, Itematech will offer the widest range of best-in-class technological solutions to weave technical fabrics.

Technical fabrics manufacturers will now on find in Itematech a unique partner and technological reference point to meet and exceed all their needs when it comes to weaving the full range of technical applications.

The strategic alliance between the two historic weaving manufacturers leads to a complete and never-before-seen product portfolio, which ranges from negative and positive rapier, to air-jet and projectile weaving machines.


Technical fabrics industry differs significantly from standard fabrics production, since it involves highly innovative man-made raw materials and yarns and addresses end markets characterized by particular trends.

Itema America, the U.S. subsidiary of Italy-based Itema Group, has acquired – through an Assets Purchase Agreement – Palmetto Loom Reed, a Greenville, South Carolina-based manufacturer of weaving reeds and one of the last remaining domestic producers of these precision components in the United States.

Itema exhibits the two best-selling high-end rapier weaving machines of the Region, R9500EVO and Galileo-RX at SITEX 2026

Following the opening of its new Surat Service Center in November, Itema will exhibit at SITEX (Stand 286) from February 21st to 23rd at the Surat International Exhibition and Convention Centre (SIECC). Surat has long been one of Itema’s most strategic markets, a role further reinforced by the inauguration of the Surat Service Center last November. Equipped with an advanced electronic repair center, a weaving machine behavior simulator, and a local spare parts warehouse, the new facility strengthens Itema’s presence in the region while bringing the company even closer to its Customers.

TERNAfil wins first place at PitchMiUp Night 2026 in Minden

The RWTH spin-off TERNAfil has developed MAXCarbon, a new high-performance hybrid fibre that combines the mechanical performance of carbon with the temperature and corrosion resistance of ceramic materials. For this development, TERNAfil was awarded first prize at the PitchMiUp Night in Minden on 21 May 2026.
