PERFORMANCE DAYS introduces Digital Design Journey with CLO and VIZOO

© 2026 PERFORMANCE DAYS

PERFORMANCE DAYS will introduce a new Digital Design Journey at its upcoming edition in Munich, connecting physical fabric sourcing with 3D product development. Supported by CLO and VIZOO, the installation will demonstrate how real performance fabrics can be digitized and incorporated into virtual garment development workflows.

The October edition of PERFORMANCE DAYS will also be the largest in the fair’s history, bringing together more than 590 exhibitors across two and a half exhibition halls and approximately 27,500 sqm of exhibition space at Messe München.

Alongside its expanded sourcing portfolio, the fair will address topics ranging from bio-based and cellulosic materials to circularity, bodywear, garment construction and digital technologies.

The new Digital Design Journey will be located directly at the entrance to the exhibition. Its aim is to demonstrate the connection between physical textile sourcing, material data and digital product development.

Five physical materials supplied by PERFORMANCE DAYS exhibitors provide the basis for the project. The fabrics are also featured on LOOP, the fair’s digital material sourcing platform.

For an international design challenge, members of the CLO Creator Collective used the materials to develop digital garment concepts for sports, outdoor and lifestyle applications. The physical fabrics were digitized using VIZOO technology to create digital material representations for use within CLO’s 3D garment simulation environment.

This allows characteristics of the individual materials, including weight, stretch, drape and movement, to be incorporated into the virtual design process and assessed in relation to garment shape, fit and application.

Five fabrics translated into virtual garments

The five winning concepts cover different performance and lifestyle applications. Patricia Nahorniac developed an Alpine Summit concept using a fabric from Schotex, while Vesna Stawa combined a Dry-Tex material with a Mountain Trail application. Bertha Jiménez used a Borgini fabric for an Active Gym concept.

For the two urban applications, Olivia ten Hoevel developed Urban Runner using a Singtex material, while Jon Sánchez Pérez created an Urban Lifestyle concept based on a fabric from Ventile.

The installation will present the complete workflow from the original physical fabrics through material digitization and virtual product development to the finished digital looks.

For PERFORMANCE DAYS, the project reflects the increasing connection between conventional material sourcing and digital development processes. Visitors can first encounter physical fabrics at the exhibition, research materials through the LOOP platform and see how digital material data can subsequently be integrated into 3D garment development.

Several of the winning designers will also participate in PERFORMANCE DAYS and present their concepts and workflows during a dedicated session on the Breakout Stage.

PERFORMANCE DAYS will take place on October 13–14, 2026, at Messe München in halls A4–A6.

PERFORMANCE DAYS announces new focus topic & forums for October 2026

With its upcoming October 13–14, 2026 edition, PERFORMANCE DAYS is placing the spotlight on one of the textile industry’s most important transformations: “Bio-Based Materials – From Fiber to Fabric”, a two-part Focus Topic exploring the future of bio-based innovation across the textile value chain. Part 1, presented in October 2026, will focus on fibers and next-generation material developments, while Part 2 at the March 2027 edition will shift the perspective toward dyeing, finishing, additives, and processing technologies.

PERFORMANCE DAYS proves its relevance as the industry’s key meeting point

Held on March 18–19, 2026, PERFORMANCE DAYS once again confirmed its position as a leading international platform for functional textiles. A total of 3.366 trade visitors and around 560 exhibitors gathered in Munich, with the event already kicking off successfully on DAY 0, which received highly positive feedback for its interactive format. Despite challenging conditions caused by the public transport strike in Munich, the event saw strong attendance and a consistently high level of activity across both exhibition days.

“Action helps us change what we do!”

DAY 0 takes place deliberately before PERFORMANCE DAYS begins. It is conceived as a space for reflection, dialogue and active engagement — a moment to pause before the fair, rethink established systems and address sustainability not as a trend, but as a fundamental transformation challenge. Under the guiding metaphor “Turn the Tap Off”, DAY 0 focuses on root causes rather than symptoms, systemic change rather than isolated solutions, and collective responsibility rather than individual silos.

PERFORMANCE DAYS: Focus topic shifts to the beginning of the value chain

Following the last Focus Topic in October 2025, which placed Textile-to-Textile Recycling at its core, PERFORMANCE DAYS continues to drive the conversation around circularity – this time with an expanded and more upstream perspective. The upcoming Focus Topic, “Textile to Textile: The Role of Collectors and Sorters,” presented during the spring edition on March 18–19, will spotlight one of the most essential yet often overlooked components of a functioning circular textile system: the efficient collection and sorting of post-consumer textiles.
