Preparations for DOMOTEX 2026 are in full swing, and the positive response to the new concept confirms the relevance of the world’s leading trade fair for carpets, flooring and interior finishing. The newly introduced participation formats, in particular, have been well received by the market. In addition, strong partners such as DECOR-UNION and MEGA have reaffirmed their cooperation with DOMOTEX.

Retailers Park: Successful Concept to be expanded

The proven Retailers Park format, which already served as a central meeting point for retailers and craftsmen last year, will be further developed in 2026. With DECOR-UNION and MEGA once again on board, two strong partners will offer a unique platform for networking and industry exchange. A new, craftsman-oriented area called “The Work Shop” will showcase products, techniques, and innovations from Retailers Park exhibitors on a daily basis.

Strong Partnerships as a Key Success Factor

One of DOMOTEX’s key success factors is its extensive partner network. By working closely with national and international multipliers, the trade fair continues to expand its global visitor outreach. Several new partnerships have recently been formed, including with the European DIY Retail Association (EDRA), the German DIY, Building and Garden Trade Association (BHB), the Federal Association of Wholesale, Home & Colour (GHF), and the Manufacturers Association for Home & Garden. These collaborations offer exhibitors greater visibility and extend the reach for showcasing innovations and new solutions.

In January next year, DOMOTEX will set in motion a new two-year cycle: from 2025 onwards, the Carpets & Rugs Edition will be a central meeting place for the world of carpets at the Hannover Exhibition Grounds in all odd-numbered years. In 2026, as in all even years, DOMOTEX will once again bring together the entire international floor coverings industry under one roof.

Object Carpet tests production of rPET BCF yarn on Neumag BCF line

In a joint project with Object Carpet GmbH, Denkendorf; the Institute for Textile Technology (ITA), Augsburg; and Next Generation Recyclingmaschinen GmbH (NGR), Feldkirchen, Austria, Barmag investigated the processing of recycled polyester for BCF yarn. The goal was to evaluate the fundamental suitability of 100% recycled carpet material for reuse in carpet yarn production to create a closed-loop system in carpet manufacturing. To date, commercial rPET BCF processes have been based solely on rPET from bottle pellets.

The first half of 2026 was shaped by the successful completion of the largest acquisition in Rieter’s history. The Man-Made Fiber Division enables entry into the growth segment of man-made fibers and sustainably strengthens Rieter’s market position in the Asia region.
