Two companies newly-established in Germany to manufacture and distribute high-end protective masks were in the spotlight at the beginning of May: with FleeceforEurope and Lindenpartner, Düsseldorf-based Kloepfel Group purchasing consultancy and Berlin-based industrial consultancy Bechinger & Heymann Holding plan to manufacture and distribute up to 50 million protection class FFP1 through FFP3 respiratory masks a month exclusively for the European market from the beginning of fall. And the primary focus will be on quality.

Low & Bonar PLC is now part of the Freudenberg Group

The global technology group Freudenberg acquired 100 percent of the shares in Low & Bonar PLC, London, United Kingdom. Freudenberg submitted an offer in September 2019. The Low & Bonar shareholders approved the sale in November 2019, the European Commission authorized the merger on April 17. Low & Bonar PLC will be delisted from the London Stock Exchange on May 13 at 8 AM local London time. Low & Bonar is a global manufacturer of technical textiles. The company will be integrated in the Freudenberg Performance Materials Business Group.

DITF produce nonwovens for certified FFP 2 protective masks

As of this week, it is mandatory to wear masks on buses and trains and when shopping in Germany. However, protective masks are still in short supply. While simple mouth and nose covers are currently sufficient for everyday life, FFP 2 or FFP 3 masks are urgently needed in hospitals and in the care sector. The German Institutes of Textile and Fiber Research (DITF) in Denkendorf have converted their research facilities to produce certified FFP 2 protective masks in order to be able to produce 200,000 certified FFP 2 protective masks in the coming weeks together with partners.
