Textile Exchange reports growth in certifications and industry engagement

Textile Exchange has published its 2025 Annual Report, highlighting continued growth in certified sites, industry participation and the development of its standards and membership structure. According to the report, more than 100,000 sites worldwide are now certified to Textile Exchange standards, more than three times the number recorded in 2020. Preliminary figures also indicate 12% year-on-year growth across the organization's current standards, including the Global Recycled Standard (GRS), Recycled Claim Standard (RCS) and the Responsible Animal Fiber standards.

The Responsible Wool Standard (RWS) now covers more than 30 million hectares of land globally, while participation in the Materials Benchmark reached a record level, with 423 brands and retailers, including subsidiaries, reporting raw material volumes and sustainability data.

Among companies reporting comparable data for 2023 and 2024, the share of raw materials certified under sustainability programs increased from 58% to 67%, while the use of virgin fossil-based polyester declined from 637,388 tonnes to 560,029 tonnes.

The report also highlights the introduction of a new action-oriented membership structure and further progress toward the Materials Matter Standard, which is intended to integrate Textile Exchange's existing material-specific standards into a single science-based framework covering climate, nature, people and animals.

In addition, more than 1,700 participants attended the Textile Exchange Conference 2025 in Lisbon, and the organization's global membership grew to more than 700 organizations and individuals.
