“Shanghai was worth a visit” concluded the automation specialist Erhardt+Leimer at the end of ITMA ASIA, the biggest trade fair for textile machines in Asia, where they had presented their company and displayed their products.
During the two-week show special focus was laid on customer care, but also on increasing customer relations and attracting new customers.

Klaus Baumann, E+L Sales Division Manager Textiles, knows exactly what he is talking about when he points out the importance of customer relations in Asia. “About 95 per cent of our competitors come from Asian countries. Therefore, it presents a major challenge for a European enterprise to establish itself firmly on the Asian market.” During ITMA ASIA it has however become obvious that Erhardt+Leimer had succeeded in doing so. Nearly all machines displayed at the show had been equipped with stenter guiders of E+L. At the Erhardt+Leimer stand visitors were mainly attracted by two products, the new actuator KR 60 and the web cutting system ELCUT BTA 80.

But despite their success and firm market position there is no reason for Erhardt+Leimer to rest on their laurels. Based on the company’s Asia strategy introduced in 2011 E+L have made big efforts in further increasing their presence in the Asian region over the past few months.

A big Taiwanese customer, who had been provided with the new actuator KR 60 in advance, designed a specific plate to point to the new system.

For example, they have raised the number of service centers in the growing Chinese market to seven and established new sales partnerships. Due to the new salary policy adopted by the Chinese government this might be particularly helpful for the German automation specialist in the near future. Among others China’s five-year plan includes doubling of the minimum wage, thus requiring higher wages for at least 90 per cent of the staff employed in the textile industry. At the same time Chinese companies must reduce costs, avoid waste and increase quality, as their competitors from Indonesia and Vietnam are getting stronger and stronger. And this is where E+L can score points due to their many years of experience and their reliable product solutions.
