Pontetorto chooses Sensil® Biocare for new biopile line

Pontetorto and NILIT are proud to present the first collection made entirely with SENSIL® BioCare, the premium Nylon 6.6 enhanced with a technology proven to accelerate biodegradation in saltwater and soil. Pontetorto will present this innovative collection at Performance Days in December.

Pontetorto’s new Biopile collection is an ECO PERFORMANCE AWARD winner, celebrated for being the first fleece that does not release biodegradable microplastics during wearing or laundering. This special collection targets the critical problem of textile waste buildup in marine ecosystems. Biopile with SENSIL® Biocare offers a more sustainable solution for the planet’s oceans, rivers, and lakes.

SENSIL® BioCare has been independently tested and proven to anaerobically biodegrade at an accelerated rate versus conventional nylon. Initial testing according to ASTM D6691 Standard Test Method For Determining Aerobic Biodegradation Of Plastic Materials In The Marine Environment and ASTM D5511 Standard Test Method For Determining Anaerobic Biodegradation Of Plastic Materials Under High-Solids Anaerobic-Digestion Conditions indicates that Sensil® BioCare yarns will break down more rapidly than conventional nylon.

These promising findings point to reduced waste accumulation in both oceans and landfills. Manufactured according to the NILIT’s Total Product Sustainability criteria, SENSIL® BioCare offers spectacular comfort, durability, and performance for today’s conscious consumers.

Lenzing and Kaihara to debut REMOD denim collection at Kingpins Amsterdam

The Lenzing Group, a global producer of wood-based fibers for the textile and nonwovens industries, has partnered with Japanese denim manufacturer Kaihara Corporation to launch the “REMOD Collection”. The collection combines three of Lenzing's fiber offerings for denim applications: TENCEL™ Lyocell Standard, TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 and TENCEL™ Lyocell dtex 2.2.

Circ and Huafon partner to scale textile-to-textile recycling in China

Circ® and Huafon, a leading spandex producer in China, are partnering to build and scale a new multi-phase textile-to-textile recycling site in China, expanding Circ's global pathway to industrial scale. The project will be located within Huafon's industrial footprint and will use Circ's technology to process polycotton textile waste and recycle both inputs, recovering recycled PTA, recycled MEG and recycled cellulosic pulp for use in new textiles. The site will be developed in phases, with Phase 1 designed for approximately 200 metric tons of textile waste per day and additional capacity planned.
