AMSilk’s Quality Management receives certification

AMSilk GmbH, the world´s first industrial supplier of synthetic silk biopolymers, today announced that its quality management system for the first time has received certification according to DIN EN ISO 13485:2016 by the TÜV Süd.

This international standard describes special requirements for quality management systems of medical device manufacturers and their suppliers. With this certification, TÜV Süd confirms that AMSilk is a qualified supplier for medical device manufacturers and that it implements stringent industry standards concerning safety and reliability of its products as well as the required risk management procedures.

Moreover, TÜV Süd recertified AMSilk regarding conformity with the international standard ISO 9001:2015.

Jens Klein, AMSilk CEO, welcomed the certifications as validation of AMSilk’s longstanding commitment to quality management: “We are very pleased that our high standards regarding safety and product quality have been reconfirmed by the TÜV certification. As AMSilk is planning to further reinforce and develop its medical technology business unit, especially the certification according to DIN EN ISO 13485:2016 is an essential milestone in the development of best-inclass products.”

Evonik and AMSilk extend partnership for sustainable biotech silk materials

Evonik and AMSilk, a global leader in advanced biomaterials based on silk proteins, have deepened their collaboration with a long-term agreement to produce sustainable silk proteins at industrial scale. Building on their initial manufacturing agreement from 2023, the companies have commissioned a manufacturing line at Evonik’s Slovakian site for AMSilk’s high-performance silk. This innovative biomaterial is produced with minimal environmental impact and is designed for use in premium fashion and highly demanding automotive interiors.

AMSilk secures EUR 52M strategic financing to accelerate commercial growth

AMSilk GmbH (“AMSilk”), a frontrunner in advanced biomaterials made from silk-based proteins, today announced it has successfully secured EUR 52 million financing led by existing investor ATHOS (AT Newtec), along with strong participation from fellow existing investors MIG Capital and Novo Holdings. The financing combines EUR 30 million in equity, and EUR 22 million in convertible bonds. This reflects strong investor confidence and long-term commitment in AMSilk’s technology and market potential.

Dyneema®, owned by Avient Corporation, an innovator of materials solutions, is supplying its high-performance unidirectional (UD) materials to world-leading armor manufacturer NP Aerospace, enabling the production of armor systems designed specifically to fit the female body. Grasim Industries announces fresh investment of ₹3094 Crore to expand Lyocell capacity

Grasim Industries Limited, the flagship company of the Aditya Birla Group and a global leader in cellulosic fibres, today announced an investment of ₹3,094 crore, for Phase II Lyocell capacity of 110K TPA at Harihar, Karnataka. This expansion will consist of 2 lines of 55K TPA (150 Tons per day) each. The first line is expected to be commissioned by 2028, and the second line is expected to be commissioned by 2030.
