Acquisition of INglass S.p.A. successfully closed

Oerlikon announced today that it has successfully closed the acquisition of the Italian company INglass S.p.A. and its innovative hot runner systems technology operating under its market-leading HRSflow business.

Hot runner systems will be offered under the brand Oerlikon HRSflow

The acquisition accelerates Oerlikon’s strategy in diversifying its manmade fibers business to expand into the high-growth polymer processing solutions market. INglass S.p.A. is an internationally operating successful company established in 1987. Its product portfolio includes hot runners as well as engineering and consultancy services for the advanced development of polymer processing products. The hot runner systems will be offered under the Oerlikon HRSflow brand in the future. Those are applied in multiple industries from automotive, consumer goods and household appliances to packaging, waste management, construction and transportation.


 

Oerlikon HRSflow will be integrated into the Oerlikon Flow Control Solutions Business Unit, which is part of the Oerlikon Polymer Processing Solutions Division. After receiving all the required merger control approvals, Oerlikon and INglass S.p.A. successfully closed the acquisition on June 9, 2021. INglass S.p.A will be consolidated as of June 1, 2021.

Object Carpet tests production of rPET BCF yarn on Neumag BCF line

In a joint project with Object Carpet GmbH, Denkendorf; the Institute for Textile Technology (ITA), Augsburg; and Next Generation Recyclingmaschinen GmbH (NGR), Feldkirchen, Austria, Barmag investigated the processing of recycled polyester for BCF yarn. The goal was to evaluate the fundamental suitability of 100% recycled carpet material for reuse in carpet yarn production to create a closed-loop system in carpet manufacturing. To date, commercial rPET BCF processes have been based solely on rPET from bottle pellets.

New spinning package with two-step filtration for recycled yarns and more

At the ITM in Istanbul, BB Engineering unveiled its new, patented ValuePack spinning package for the first time, which features a two-stage filtration system. This is particularly beneficial for re-cycling processes. Until now, spinning packs have used either metal powder (“sand”) or filter candles as filter media. Both options are suitable for differ-ent applications, and each has its own specific advantages and dis-advantages.
