The INDEX™20 Innovation Awards Go Live!

The INDEX™20 Innovation Awards are presented only once every three years for “Excellence in the nonwovens and related industries”. Originally due to be presented at the INDEX™20 exhibition in April, since postponed until the 7th – 10th September 2021, EDANA has decided to present these coveted industry Awards ‘Live’, in an on-line ceremony which will take place on 6th October 2020, from 3 pm – 4pm.

The INDEX™20 Innovation Awards are open to all INDEX™20 exhibitors and EDANA members, for products commercially available by the 31st January 2020, and have been selected by a jury of experienced industry members.

The INDEX™20 Innovation Awards are the highest accolade for the best examples of excellence in the industry, highlighting creativity and innovations from businesses of all sizes and roles within the business.

The Awards are comprised of 7 categories covering all fields of the nonwovens supply chain, with a maximum of 3 nominees selected per category. The winners will not be disclosed until the on-line event on 6th October 2020.

In addition, during the weeks leading up to the live event, observers and participants in the nonwovens industry will be able to view all the videos from the nominees posted on the indexnonwovens LinkedIn page as of Tuesday 8th September.

By watching the videos of their choice, visitors to the page will be able to participate in a special prize. The video which receives the most ‘Likes’ in total on the indexnonwovens page will be honoured with a special INDEX™20 ‘People’s Prize’, and voted the most liked industry innovation of this year.

All the Award winners’ and nominees’ submissions will subsequently be on display in the Nonwovens Innovation Lab, a new feature at the INDEX™20 exhibition, taking place at Palexpo in Geneva, from 7th- 10th September 2021, aimed at showcasing how invention and sustainability drive the industry forward.

EDANA, the international association serving the nonwovens and related industries, has welcomed the European Commission's decision to impose definitive anti-dumping duties on imports of PET spunbond originating in China. The association considers the measures an important step towards restoring fair competition and safeguarding European industrial capacity.

Sustainability: European industry calls on EU to keep Single-Use Plastics Directive unchanged

A broad coalition of European industry associations, including EDANA, Euratex and Plastics Europe, has urged EU institutions to maintain the current legal framework of the Single-Use Plastics Directive (SUPD). In a joint statement, the organisations argue that reopening the Directive at this stage would create legal uncertainty, increase regulatory complexity and undermine investment, while its implementation across the European Union is still incomplete.

Stäubli to introduce new S3292 dobby for high-speed weaving at ITME India 2026

Stäubli will introduce its new S3292 dobby at ITME India 2026, taking place from December 4 to 9 at the India Expo Centre & Mart in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. Designed for high-speed air-jet weaving, the new machine will be among the highlights of the company's presentation, which also includes warp preparation systems, cam motions, Jacquard technologies and digital services.

DITF develops bio-based binding fibers for wood-fiber insulation materials

As part of the CelluWoodFlex project, the German Institutes of Textile- and Fiber-Research in Denkendorf (DITF) are developing bio-based cellulose ester fibers as alternative binding fibers for flexible wood fiber insulation materials. In addition to the spinning process and the production of suitable staple fibers, the institute is also investigating how wood and cellulose fibers can be separated and recycled at the end of their useful life.

Reju expands textile-to-textile recycling network with six international fabric manufacturers

Reju, a textile-to-textile regeneration company, is expanding its industrial network through collaborations with six fabric manufacturers in Europe and the Americas. The initiative aims to accelerate the integration of regenerated polyester into textile manufacturing and support the development of finished fabrics for commercial applications.

Magnera highlights HighPleat™ filtration media technology at FiltXPO 2026

At FiltXPO 2026, held on October 28–29 at the Minneapolis Convention Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Magnera highlighted advances in air filtration media architecture, with a particular focus on its HighPleat™ platform for MERV 8–10 applications. The technology combines a lofted fiber structure with optimized pore architecture to address the challenge of balancing filtration efficiency, airflow resistance and contaminant-holding capacity.
