PACKAGING SACKS - A VERY MODERN SACK FACTORY IN ROMANIA
The Conterra company in Focsani, Romania, recently has taken up the full-time production of circular-woven packaging sacks. Th
e installed capacity permits the production of 12 million flat or valve sacks (25-50 kg) and approximately 450,000 FIBC container sacks (500-1500 kg ) per annum. The factory has been completely refurbished, i.e. the latest machines from the Karl Mayer Group and Barmag AG (Saurer Group) have been installed in a new factory building, starting with a polypropylene tape-yarn production unit. There are also a circular weaving section, a fabric coating unit, the making-up of sacks and peripheral areas such as laboratory etc. The firm is in private ownership and has a very successful management team. The aim from the very beginning was to reach European standards of quality. The demands of the FIBCA 005 quality certificate were achieved and continuously monitored by the German 'Labordata' test laboratory. Production is aimed at both Romania's requirements and export markets. The equipment is so configured that there is a high level of flexibility in sack production. In addition to size there is a choice between different types of sacks, coated or uncoated fabrics, ultraviolet stabilisation, antislip coating, etc. The firm's motto is "a sack to satisfy every customer's wish." Design was in the hands of Karl Mayer Malimo, Chemnitz, Germany. The polypropylene tape yarns are produced on a Barmag FB 7-1300 system. Circular looms from Karl Mayer Malimo with a special 45º shed are used. The fabric quality thus achieved satisfies the most stringent demands. The LAM 2100 coating system from Barmag is designed both for the processing of tubular narrow fabrics and FIBC fabrics. The making-up machines from Karl Mayer Conversion Machinery Limited also ensure the necessary flexibility for the wide range of sacks. The commissioning of this production unit emphasizes the growing importance of the East European sector for the production of textile packaging sacks. Because the large West European consumer market for sacks is relatively close geographically, this region has very good prospects for the future. The Karl Mayer Group and Barmag AG will consolidate their activities by working together. ----------Karl Mayer Malimo Textilmaschinenfabrik GmbHMauersbergerstr.2D-09117 Chemnitz / GermanyPhone: +49-371-8143 0Fax: +49-7371-8143111Contact: Gerd ZeidlerE-Mail: gzeidler@karlmayer.de duced on a Barmag FB 7-1300 system.
