The European Recycling Conference 2025 heads to Hamburg

The European Recycling Conference (ERC) is coming to Hamburg, Germany, on 1 October 2025. This year’s edition, co-organised with EuRIC’s German members BDSV, bvse, and VDM, will explore the topic of “Building a competitive market for recycled materials”, and their critical role in delivering on the EU’s Competitiveness Compass and Clean Industrial Deal objectives.

ERC 2025 will propose concrete incentives and solutions to accelerate the circular economy transition while strengthening Europe’s industrial resilience and global competitiveness. Key topics include:

+ Integrating circularity into EU trade, energy, and competitiveness policies

+ The potential of End-of-Waste criteria and the role of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) schemes

+ Navigating the post-Waste Shipment Regulation landscape

+ Responding to supply chain volatility in a new era of global tariffs

+ Preserving international trade flows of recycled materials

+ The case for small-scale, strategic partnerships over trade barriers

ERC 2025 will bring together top-level speakers from industry and policy-making spheres, offering a unique platform to connect with fellow industry leaders, market analysts, and journalists. This year, EuRIC is placing a strong focus on networking opportunities, encouraging participants to arrive early to make the most of dedicated networking sessions and to celebrate the sector’s achievements together.
