The international OEKO-TEX® association has continued to demonstrate positive business growth, highlighting the critical role of close collaboration and shared commitment in accelerating sustainable change. More than 35,000 textile and leather companies depend on the certificates and product labels issued by OEKO-TEX®’s independent testing institutes. OEKO-TEX® issued more than 50,000 certificates and labels between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2024 – an increase of 22% over the previous financial year.

The ideal 3d printing setting for innovative gloves

Protective gloves, such as those used for work, sport or household gardening, retrieve their protective function from a special coating. This coating provides abrasion resistance, makes the material waterproof and resistant to chemicals or oil, and even protects against cuts and punctures. Until now, coatings made of oil-based polymers, nitrile rubber or latex have been the main materials used. Using innovative technologies, scientists at the German Institutes of Textile and Fiber Research Denkendorf (DITF) have succeeded in developing a robust yet flexible glove coating using environmentally friendly lignin in a 3D printing process.

The Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) is releasing the latest edition of its annual, aggregated report on the verification and implementation of Cotton made in Africa (CmiA). This report demonstrates AbTF’s continued commitment to transparency in 2024 and offers the public insight into how its partners in Africa are implementing the requirements of the CmiA and CmiA Organic standards. The published figures pertain to the production of CmiA and CmiA Organic cotton during the last season. They show results ranging from good to very good for all four of CmiA’s sustainability pillars: management, people, planet, and prosperity.

Mimaki unveils four new printers developed to enable print businesses to expand, diversify and stay ahead of market trends

Mimaki Europe, a leading provider of industrial inkjet printers, cutting plotters, and 3D printers, has today announced four new printers for sign graphic, industrial and textile applications. The CJV200 Series, a range of roll-to-roll print and cut eco-solvent machines, and the TS330-3200DS, a hybrid direct and transfer sublimation printer, will both be demonstrated for the first time in Europe at The Print Show (September 17-19th, NEC Birmingham, UK). These two technologies, alongside an entry-level flatbed UV printer, the JFX200-1213 EX, and Mimaki’s latest direct-to-film (DTF) solution, the TxF300-1600, will be commercially available in Europe in November 2024, and have been developed with new features, print formats and higher speeds to support customers ready to expand and futureproof their business.

Lindauer DORNIER continues to rely on solar power

Lindauer DORNIER has put a new photovoltaic system into operation at its main plant in Lindau. Following the system at the Esseratsweiler plant, which was connected to the grid at the end of 2022, this is the machine and plant manufacturer's second photovoltaic system. In future, it will not only supply the company's own production, but also the public power grid with environmentally friendly solar energy. The family-owned company's aim is to cover its electricity needs entirely from renewables in the long term.
