The Trützschler Group has discontinued the Man-Made Fibers Division. The production of machines and systems for the production of BCF and IDY has been discontinued. Trützschler is now focusing on its core businesses spinning, card clothing and nonwovens.

The Oerlikon Polymer Processing Solutions Division of the Swiss Oerlikon Group is expanding its customer services and spare parts business in the area of machines and systems for the production of carpet yarns (BCF) and industrial yarns (IDY). To this end, the company concluded an agreement with the Truetzschler Group, based in Moenchengladbach, Germany, in August. Technology experts and service staff from Oerlikon Neumag are now the new contacts for customer services and the spare parts business for Truetzschler's BCF and IDY technologies installed in the market.

The business situation remains dire, but expectations stay positive

ITMF’s Global Textile Industry Survey (GTIS) in July 2024 reveals that the global textile value chain remains in a very challenging business environment. Even though on average the business situation is dire which reflects a low order intake, business expectations in six months’ time stay positive. This very mixed picture shows that companies are expecting that this unprecedented long duration of a weak business cycle must come to an end eventually.

Shipments of new textile machinery rose in most segments in 2023, except in texturing

In 2023, global shipments of new short-staple and long-staple spindles rose by +2% and +5%, respectively, and dropped by -17% for open-end rotors (year-on-year). Deliveries of draw- texturing spindles decreased by -28% while the number of shipped shuttle-less looms rose by +52%. Shipments of large circular knitting machines grew by +17% and shipped flat knitting machines registered a 60%-increase. The sum of all deliveries in the finishing segment remained stable on average.

Change of Managing Directors: Ensuring success with digitalization

Since April 1, 2024, the Gunold GmbH has a new management team with the two siblings Aileen and Kevin Gunold. The family business from Stockstadt, celebrating its 100th anniversary in three years' time, will now be managed by the fourth generation. “I am delighted that our company will continue to be run by the family,” says father Christoph Gunold, who was the third generation to manage the company for almost 30 years until March 2024.

Automotive supplier Sailuda integrates backwards in BCF yarn production

Chinese automotive supplier Sailuda is expanding its process chain with the commissioning of a Oerlikon Neumag BCF plant. In future, the specialist for automotive interiors will produce its own BCF yarns. The company is thus integrating the entire process from the yarn to the finished carpet and can therefore better influence production and quality of its car carpets.
