With catalytic funding from Laudes Foundation and IDH, Fashion for Good partnered with Reverse Resources, Global Fashion Agenda, Circle Economy, and Accelerating Circularity to launch World of Waste. A free online tool mapping global textile waste hotspots providing aggregated regional data on waste volume, composition, and type, enabling recyclers and innovators to efficiently identify and utilise textile waste resources worldwide.

Year-end sprint with the STOLL and KM.ON training program
For the fall/winter 2024 season, the KARL MAYER GROUP has once again prepared a comprehensive training package for its flat knitting customers. The offer includes an online training course on CREATE DESIGN and a new e-learning course on the basics of flat knitting, primarily for designers. There is also an in-house training course on CREATE PLUS for M1plus® switchers. Susanne Eisenlohr, Head of the STOLL Academy in Reutlingen, is delighted with the positive response.

For the second edition of the Albstadt ID industry event on 10 October 2024, more than 300 school students from all over Germany and around 200 other interested parties from the industry came to Albstadt to find out about new training and employment opportunities in the textile and clothing industry through numerous presentations. The IVGT was also there! In room 205-141, Iris Schlomski reported on the current status of the ADDTEX Erasmus+ project and explained in particular the content of the ADDTEX Academy and the Hackathon and Bootcamp programmes that have now been successfully implemented.

The West African country of Benin is well on its way to establishing itself as a new procurement and production hub for textiles and clothing; these efforts include having locally produced cotton made into textiles for the global market. The Aid by Trade Foundation (AbTF) is supporting this development through Cotton made in Africa (CmiA), one of its sustainability standards, which not only provides a sustainable and local basis for textile production but also facilitates access to international markets. Recently, a delegation of AbTF visited the CmiA project country of Benin for a first-hand look at the progress being made.
